About Houston Poetry Slam!

Southmore Slam was founded by Doug Shields in the year 2000. Tamara Nichols took over and served as Slam master until December 2005. Cedric Ary is one of the original founding members of Writer's Ink which was formed as a Texas non-profit corporation to administer Houston Poetry Slam. Cedric Ary ,aka Brother Said has served as Slammaster since December 2005.
