Houston Poetry Slam

Do you want to be a member of the 2010 Houston Slam Team? Well, it’s too late to make this year’s team after February 5th, but you can always prepare for next season, by registering yourself or your two man team now for our slam workshops and then practice your poems and what you learned at the workshop in the slam after the workshop. We can slam up to 8 poets per night. To reserve a spot in a slam fill out the form below, but you really should sign up for the workshop too . There is a $3 registration fee. And be sure to read the rules.

The open season to compete for a spot on the Houston Slam Team is open to any and all poets in the Houston area beginning August 18, 2010 and continuing through January 19, 2011. February 1 – 5, 2011 will be our playoff week for top ranking poets from the regular season to make it to the Houston Slam Team Grand Slam Final on February 5th, where the top 4 poets and an alternate become the 2011 Houston Slam Team. All slams are at the Avaunt Garden which will host us every 3rd Wednesday of the month. To register for the workshop and the slam:

Put “individual” in the subject field to register as an individual poet.

Put “team” in the subject field to register your team. Teams are limited to two poets. Let us know if you have a team name.

Be sure to include the date of the slam in which you want to compete in your message.
